A Letter From Our President

Kathy MorrisWelcome to the newly redesigned INPS website. The INPS is excited to update the site and offer more services to our members. We would like to thank Terrace Place Clinic for providing financial support for the website.

Nurse Practitioners in Iowa have an important role in meeting the health care needs of Iowans. The many changes that are occurring in Health Care Policy and reform has the potential to expand that role.  The NP’s in Iowa need to be prepared to meet that challenge by continuing to advocate for our patients ability to access our services. The legislative committee which is a joint committee with the IANP does an outstanding job of monitor health policy legislation and advocating for our practice.

Every Nurse Practitioner has a responsibility to support their profession. This year I would ask our members to help support and grow our organization by their continued membership, volunteering for conference support and recruiting new members.

The INPS conference will be held in Des Moines, Iowa on November 3, 4, and 5. The conference committee is planning an exciting and information program. Please plan on joining us – updates will be posted on the website in the near future.

It is an exciting time to be a Nurse Practitioner and Iowa takes the lead in one of the best practice acts for NP’s. I encourage NP’s who live or practice in Iowa to become a member of INPS and help us grow our organization to its full potential.
