The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Iowa is seeking full-time Hospitalists. The position requires the candidate to be a Physician’s Assistant, (Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA), Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), (A Master’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in Nursing is preferred. If a Master’s degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required). An ARNP is required to have current certification in specialty area and licensure as ARNP in state of Iowa.

An equivalent (1-3 years) experience in area of clinical practice is required or previous experience in specified hospital specialty area or demonstrated knowledge of area of clinical practice may also serve to meet these minimum requirements. Highly desired is experience providing overall medical care and medical management for patients in an inpatient setting and exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services. Managing length of stay, improving resource utilization and decreasing costs to patients and the institution while providing personalized care is also a desired qualification.
